Can anybody help me identify this coin

    One side has Cornwal Lis. I 1767 coin 001.JPG 1767 coin 002.JPG nd on it the other British Faks (not sure about this last bit coin is worn)
    and a seated Brittania and the date 1767

    Legends read "CORNWALLIS IND" and "BRITISH TARS". It is an imitation halfpenny.

    It is an Evasion Halfpenny - listed in my Withers book as #70 - Cornwal Lis Ind, with British Tars on the reverse. Date should be 1797, so this could be a variant or mistrike. Made in the US in the years following Independence as a loose imitation of the British 18th Century Halfpennies, and used as currency. These are much collected - this one appears to be quite scarce with a price in the book of GBP 70 in fair condition!
