As the title suggests, I opened a few 2009 Lincoln Cent Mint Rolls last night (my girlfriend left for her parents, clearing me to begin coin-oriented activities again.) Overall, I went through 8 rolls (still have 11 rolls left) and I have to say the general quality of the coins was pretty poor. Spots everywhere, ugly marks on them, nothing I'd get too excited about...until I started pulling DDRs out like it was Christmas morning!

Here are my results so far (using Wexler's numbering system, since his website has photos and CONECA's does not):

    2009 P Formative Years DDR-001 (9)
    2009 P Formative Years DDR-002 (13)
    2009 P Formative Years DDR-003 (3)
    2009 P Formative Years DDR-012 (32)
    2009 P Formative Years DDR-013 (11)
    2009 P Formative Years DDR-018 (1)
2009 P Formative Years (possibly an unlisted DDR or a die chip/gouge, unknown object on top right of book) (3)
2009 P Formative Years (possibly an unlisted DDR or probably a die chip/gouge, unknown object on lower right of book, die crack along right edge of book, cud on seated Lincoln's left shoulder, and heavy die clash marks on the obverse under Lincoln's chin) (43)
2009 P Presidency Reverse Die Crack (on bottom right, just above designer's initials, from the rim to about halfway through the bottom step in the nearby staircase lowest level) (14)
2009 P Presidency Reverse Die Crack (on left side, furthest left corner of the Capitol, goes from the rim to just past the left tower; have specimens in various stages and sizes of the die break) (25)
2009 P Presidency Obverse Die Crack (on Lincoln's hair, running from the single lock of hair on top of his head to the back of his head) (24)

And, because it doesn't count if you don't have pictures...

...now, I did my best. Some were just really difficult to capture...and I'm considering getting a USB microscope camera for the small stuff...so I apologize for that. But I tried to do a closeup of the PUP, sharpen it, then turn it to black and white to make it easier to see.

Not bad, I think, for less than $1/roll at an auction (when everyone is still fixated on silver, gold, and silver dollars...some good stuff falls through the cracks!)

Nice finds, you can also use coppercoins.com for your attribution needs. They have something like 100+ photographed DDRs for that year as well, many with cross match numbers to wexlers files.

How come a lot of the newer cents look like they have been misted with water? I see lots of "water stains" on cents anymore.

For some reason, this image did not upload with the rest of them in the original post, even though it was selected...
