I did for two weeks, and stopped. I felt like I was having a panic attack every time I thought it had been lost out of my pocket. WAY too much stress for me.
I had a 1974 Ike for a pocket piece, but I cant for the life of me find it, so I have given up on them for the time being lol
I actually carry 2 coins the Morgan i got when i bought a book of state quarters at a yard sale for $20 and these 2 coins were "Glued" into the books..Do the math i quickly gave the 20...
I don't carry one but I found this one recently in a roll. It looks to have been one that was carried for quite a while. It's not easy to wear clad this much.
I carry a 1979 Wide Rim SBA. My granny, whom I never met, passed away in 1979 and she gave my father this coin before she passed. He had it tucked away and, upon telling him that I was getting into coin collecting, dug it out and let me have it, along with two other narrow rim SBA's. I have them put up in a small matchbox with the rest of my collection, but this one I put in an AirTite and decided to carry it as my pocket piece, just because although not rare, it is sentimental and I don't see too many out in circulation so it makes a good conversational piece. Not quite sure of the grade..
For my birthday last week my sister bought me this 2013 Austrian Philharmonic. I buy ASEs every week, but she spent a year living in Vienna so she got me some silver with a personal reference. We went to the rare coin store together about 36 hours before I took her to the airport on her way Botswana for her Peace Corp mission. She’ll be gone for 27 months, so I’ll be carrying it with me every day for at least that long as a constant reminder of her. Unfortunately the only air-tite that the store had is for an ASE so it is a little loose in there, but I figure it’ll be okay with a little wiggle room.
I carried an 1884 Morgan in a key fob until this last weekend when it detached from the rest of the fob... again. I put the Morgan away and there it will stay. Back to the 1794 Large Cent fantasy piece that was my prior pocket piece and one that I can live with losing.
I don't carry a coin, I do however carry a poker chip that belonged to my uncle. As stated by geekpryde, I'm always worried its going to fall out of my wallet.
my uncle bought me a key chain made of silver that can open and hold a half dollar sized coin. it is even reeded so it looks like a free hanging coin. i keep a 1943 walking liberty, because i love silver eagles and it would just be bulky carrying one of those around. its cool. people ask me sometimes what it is, and why i carry it. a cashier at publix once said to me "hey is that a walking liberty? i havent seen one of those in decades" turns out he is a coin collector too.
These are my three. The morgan i bought off of my favorite old man coin dealer which was a mid AU, the peace dollar i received from my grandmother was an xf/au cleaned, and the Ike is a silver proof that was part of the first collection I ever bought that the man just had thrown in there.
the pics are horrible, but this my pocket piece / good luck charm its a danish 2 kroner coin from 1915. its a silver coin, and i feel like its okay for me to have it messing around in my pocket since it have been in bad condition as long as i have owned it. im a bit like that, i feel sorry if i damage a coin.
