Paddy I think mine is a similar grade will picture it soon.. Raja Those rupees are stunning ! You must be very pleased with them ! Although I think design wise they are the poorest british India rupees going.. They are different and that's why I like them so much !
And here is my bikanir The seller took great photos which hid its actual state I took a punt without seeing the obverse so I'm waiting for a better one.. Its flagged for upgrade !
A few more Indian ones while we are on the subject: India 8 Anna 1920 - scarce coin India Half Rupee 1899 - very nice condition Hyderabad One Rupee AH1325 Bikanir One Rupee 1892
I am glad you appreciate them! Sadly they have all moved on from me about 3 years ago now, and all I have left are the pictures. The one that created the greatest stir was this one: More modern being 1945, but the much scarcer "Large 5" variant.
NICE POST PADDY !!!! The Bikaneri rupee was issued only in 1892 and 1897. Here is one from my collection dated 1897. I am in search of the 1892 dated rupee of Bikaner
Nice coin - but am I reading the dates wrong all along? I would have said this one was 1892 not 1897?
sorry its 1892 u r correct..i am wrong ..... Sorry i m a bit weak regarding the victorian dates !!!!! Just checked and confirmed from my senior collector its 1892 ...1897 had lesser mintage and it a bit scarce
Paddy ....saw you 1/2 rupee 1899 coin with inverted B. Nice luster it has..here is an 1899 coin from c mint with C incuse at the bottom. The coin lost its luster but still the details are excellent.
Yes - the collection I had acquired included many variants in the Half and One Rupee section - inverted and raised mint letters, mint marks, a large number of different date dots on the 1862 series, and coins from Bombay, Calcutta and Lysore mints - it took me a long time to research and identify them, and even then I suspect I missed some of the finer details!
Oh man I really need the 1/2 Victoria queen and empress rupees and some of the EIC issues ! Are the lower denominations of the princely states almost always in low grades ? Very rarely see a high grade come up for sale my. Sailana, bikanir, dhar and dewas coppers are all around VG. Worth having though ! Will post pics later !
Nice Paddy, I did not know Silly Willy had EIC coins with his image on them. I do have an early Vicky from EIC.
1840 discontinuous legend wow ......EIC ...young head of the queen ...here is one sample from my collection uncleaned coin ...WWB initials slight rotation in reverse die Madras Mint
While we are on an "India-fest" here are a few more from my long sold collection. Shows nicely the two different versions of the Rupees referred to by Raja.
