How does one grade colonial coins? That is, what publications are available that tell you how to do that?
Honestly, I have collected colonials for over forty years and I don't grade them. There is so much variation in planchet quality, color, strike, die wear, etc. that I just don't think grade means much. I go by eye appeal more than anything.
