Here are the designs (sort of) for the 2 sides of the Baseball Commemorative coin coming out in 2014. The glove side will be curved inward and the baseball side will be curved outward.
Don't think you will find many "baseball" designs on World & Ancient (which for the purpose of Coin Talk means anything except US) coins. Or rather you will have to focus on issuers such as Liberia and the other usual suspects in Africa and Oceania when they serve the US market ... (Edit: When I made this comment, the topic was in the World/Ancients forum.) Christian
I hope someone will post the Jackie Robinson commemorative. I don't have access to mine at the moment.
Honestly, I would be surprised if there isn't at least a South Korea or Japan coin with a baseball theme. Also, didn't Canada release coins for the WBC this year?
Canada, right, they did. Actually four silver pieces: Pitcher - Fielder - Runner - Hitter. Mintage 7,500 each: http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/1-oz-fine-silver-coin-pitcher-mintage-7500-2013-prod1620034 (This is the Pitcher piece.) Plus three in gold ... Japan and South Korea - don't think so, but I could be wrong of course. Christian
In the minor leagues quite a few of the best players are from Cuba, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and some from Mexico. In Cuba, despite all the embargo etc people there can give you major league stats that are up to date. Beisbol has been vedy vedy good to Cuba and I sure wouldn't mind seeing a game there - talk about some passionate game and fans!
And of course this morning I find out my cheapskate wife cancelled Netflix just last week. Go figure. Couldn't she have waited a week?
