Ancient Roman NewPs

    Good discussion, especially considering the twelve caesar's set. I am with Doug, finding some collectors view that "12 Caesar" coins somehow are superior to the rest of the series disheartening. Personally, I like and find very interesting coins through the end of the Julo-Claudian line, but find the other twelve not that interesting at all. Basically if they called the book the five caesars i think there would be more cause to consider them a homogeneous group.

    But, to each his own, and there is plenty of room in our hobby for any type of collecting fascination. :)

    Interesting that the '12 Caesars' discussion never comes up in german forums. It must be a Hollywood thing.

    I agree with Doug, Galba has some impressive Sestertii with imposing portraits.
    Here is one of mine. If the expression captured on his coins in any way reflects his true character, it certainly must have been an interesting experience to serve under his command.
