Now, the images have been released. They are on the Mint's website. I wonder what they will put on the bronze versions instead of 1/2 ounce .999 fine gold.

I will be purchasing my first gold coin in 2007 and as much as i dislike the spouses collection the draped bust is really nice. I think the liberty's (no spouse) will be the winners.

The bronze medals will be larger in diameter than the gold ones. I htink they will be like 1.3 inches.

The gold ones will be coins, with a nominal denomination on the reverse. The bronze versions will be true medals.

why only $10.00 face value?. will it supposed to be $25.00 for half ounce gold?. anyone?.

It's pretty common for NCLT to be issued with a face value that's only a small fraction of the actual bullion value at the time of issue. Basically issuing mints simply pluck a number out of the air.

I've never called it "thin air" before... :goofer:

Because it roughly matches the weight specs for an eagle. They are working under the fiction that this is a coin and not just a bullion piece. The half oz bullion piece has a $25 face value, but the 1/2 oz gold coin was an eagle or ten dollar gold coin.

Don't wait for the Buchanan Liberty, there won't be one. For his first lady coin for some reason we get a portrayal of women's suffragette Alice Paul. Whose only connection to Buchanan's presidency was that she was born during it.
