If i am right,i think those two coins were made in the time of warring states of ancient china. please talk something about them.I bought them from china.
these are cool. unfortunately my Krause catalogs only go back to the 17th century. I have no idea how old these are ???
Looks a bit too modern looking in my opinion but I don't collect these so I can't say I'm an expert on these.
On the left appears to be a flat handled square foot spade from Liang state 350-250 BC but I do not know enough about these to say whether it is original or a modern copy. I do not collect these partly because there are so many fakes and my first reaction to this one is that it is not old. Compare to Hartill 3.227.
On the right appears to be a pointed foot spade of the same date range reading Da Yin. Compare Hartill 3.63. Some of these have numerals on the reverse. My guess, and no more than a guess, is that this is also modern but I emphasize that I do not collect these and would not recognize a real one. As I understand it, Chinese law forbids export of real items of this nature but it is rarely considered wrong to fool foreigners intent on breaking their laws.
I agree the seller could make all of the difference. They are highly faked, and without knowing the seller, his reputation, and return policy, I cannot judge really. I have thousands of Chinese coins, but only buy spades from dealers I know and trust they can identify the mass of modern counterfeits versus authentic pieces.
yesterday i asked my chinese friend,he told me the left one is Liang Yi,was issued in the Wei state, the right one is Da Yin,was issued in the Zhao state。
