I see them come up from time to time. I'll keep a look out for you. I am always looking for Western state nationals myself. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Nice! I've been looking for some Sacrameto's for a while now! Nice price too! No way you overpaid. I would have paid that price anyday. I am from Sac and it would be nice if anybody out there knows where I could aquire a Sac national...

To change the subject a bit, You think more people collect coins or currency? When i first started collecting, I collected nothing but coins. In the last 2 years i have turned more toward currency.

To me, i think currency is just more appealing to the eye.

    Most people start in coins.
Only the lucky move to currency ;)

I just skipped the whole coin thing. I have a few coins, but I am far more moved by the craftsmanship and skill that goes into creating the magnificent notes we used to have. It's art to me.

It's also mind boggling to think that a person carved incredibly intricate designs into a plate. The 1890 and 1896 series are my favorite by far. The 1882 and 1902 nationals are also fantastic.

A bit of a tangent, but take a look at the reverse of this 1890 $50 treasury note that never made it into circulation.

The detail and shading is incredible. I can't fathom ever creating something like this with a pen, let alone a blade. I'm just not as moved by coins in the same way.

Do you know why that $50 design never got into circulation?
