What do you think? They are dated 1963 & 1964. They each weigh 5.2 grams and are the same dimensions of a normal quarter. I did acid test both of them and they came out silver. Thanks!

They were found in an old box at the bottom which contained old tools from the 1940's. My best gues is that after siting for 50 years by oil and such, it started to corrode. But the only thing that gets me is that a real silver quarter should weigh 6.25 grams and I don't know how much acid or oil could take off of a quarter.

Because they each weigh 5.2 grams where as the weight should be 6.25 grams. That's a 17% weight difference and definitely would not fall under the normal wear tolerance.

looks like a salt water recovery, then cleaned with silver foil.
