i would say this is an vf to ef at best which would be nice thier are no au coins with that kind of where to the breast !!
There may be luster in small protected areas of the design but that does not make it original. On this coin, the things that tell you it is cleaned are the high gloss surfaces, also the hairlines covering the field and devices, and lastly, no original coin of this era, in this grade, would be without some dirt and/or toning.
It doesn't. Those are just bits of light reflecting off of areas that were cleaned, much as light reflects off of polished chrome on a car. It is definitely a harshly cleaned coin-lots of scratches from a polishing or mechanical cleaning all over both the obverse and reverse.
One of first thing to identify Morgan has been cleaned is stars. If it has halo around stars then it's more likely being cleaned in any form of cleaning. Here's my short video of cartwheel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4nYhSphrf4 (Back) (Front)
This coin was dirty when i got it but I made a paste out of baking soda and a little dribble hot water and let it sit in there for a couple of hours and then rinsed it off no scrobbing though just really hot water in a bowl
The fact is that it is cleaned, regardless of what was on it or what was used. The numerous hairline scratches and overall appearance leave little doubt for otherwise.
