Now that we have something to protect the slab, what will they be selling us to protect the slab protection bags.
boy how many layers does a coin need for storage? Silly... *Goes back to handling ancients like they're nothing & enjoying every second of it.*
sulposedly it stops gases from getting into the grading slabs no hurt in getting a free one I have a page on face book i put a unch of stuff i find for free on and i found this to put on my page
Its everyone money. Google for the Intercept (tm) patent by Lucent Tech. and you will find it is basically a plastic sheet with cu ions to combine with the 'toning and corrosion ' gases. You can do the same with a Zip Lock and some new zincons you have scrubbed bright copper. When they turn red-brown, replace or rescrub them. The copper plating on these coins is 100% copper and when you scratch/scrub them , there is no more active copper for corrosion prevention. Cost less than 10 cents for bag and coins, and you recharge them each time you replace or scrub. Their bags don't so you have to buy new ones when the old one stop protecting~ and how do you know when??? IMO.
I'm launching a full line of protection for your slabbed coins. 1st is the slab pouch, which offers up to 500 years of protection for your slab, using a secret gas-stop coating to stop oxygen and other harmful gasses from entering your slab. 2nd is the pouch bag, which offers protection for your pouches, it's made of a NASA patent lining that will allow your pouches to survive up to 5000 degrees for 3 days. 3rd is the bag box, which allows you to safely store your pouch bags in. It's made of titanium and has a biometric lock on it. Stores up to 20 pouch bags. Waterproof. Drop proof to 1000 feet and can withstand a blast from a MOAB. The last item is the box vault. We come to your house and dig a 12x12 foot hole in your yard 40 feet deep. We pour fiberglass enriched concrete in sections to make a vault with walls 2 feet thick. A 12 foot ceiling is provided with a 1" thick 3 feet iron access tunnel. There is also a video camera installed to monitor the boxes, and the value is guaranteed to withstand a Hydrogen Bomb. The door to the access tunnel is hidden under a birdbath or a doghouse in order to deter thieves. But that's not all. Call within the next 10 minutes and we will include a slablet. Simply drill a small hole in your slab, and you can wear it around this gorgeous steel plated plastic chain made from genuine recycled steel. Impress your friends by wearing your slabbed $20 St. Gaudens around your neck. All of this can be yours for 12 easy payments of $2,220 plus $400 shipping and handling. /Sarcasm
I would remove the concrete ( water source) and the iron tunnel as you are setting up corrosion scenarios.
I like the fact that they will survive up to 5000 degrees for 3 days. No humans will be left but at least my coins will survive.
well i got the sample in the mail today its pretty much a ziplock bag looks kinda cool I guess they cost 75 cents a piece. im just going to put raw low value coins in for storage. Its also very thin
Well at least they were free! Sorry about the earlier jokes. "Intercept Coating" sounded funny! But then again, so did Teflon or Velcro when they were first announced!
Hi everyone, It's Chris from Coin Armour. I just found this thread and want to offer to everyone the opportunity to ask questions about our products and Intercept. The main issue why I started this company is that the slabs from PCGS or NGC are not airtight. As many of you know intercept will remove all the harmful gases that cause silver coins to tone or gold coins to form copper spots. The bags are 3 mil in thickness and will last a minimum of 5 years but probably much longer if you store your coins properly. Keep in mind that coin grades can change dramatically if toning becomes advanced or spots form on gold coins....and NGC will not guarantee your grade due to environmental issues such as toning...check their guarantee
You could use pennies however, pennies don't act like magnets for harmful gases. If the pennies are in the bottom of the bag, they will only trap the gases that come in contact with the pennies...and you cannot get enough pennies in close proximity to the coins to do any good...in other words there is not enough surface area to properly protect the coins. Also, the bags will turn from a copper color to black when they are no longer useful (i.e., they have absorbed gases). I store all my slabbed coins in intercept bags and store them front to back in a box. I never had one coin ever exhibit toning or spots for several years. IMHO, I believe all my coins are brighter than others not stored in intercept. I am a collector first and foremost and started this business out of necessity to protect my own coins.
