I went to a "junk" sale yesterday and I found this coin. The person selling it had no idea what it was and thought it was from Germany.. when it obviously isn't. Well this coin is very little, and it is very hard to read. I believe I found one on eBay that is the same coin. BUT the coin I found on eBay is gold! I am unsure if this coin is gold also. What is this coin I have and how much do you think it is worth? I got lucky and bought this only for $1.00. The coin I found on eBay is going for $400.00. Here is a link to the eBay one I found.

Looks similar to a 10 Pesetas from Spain. Except lettering on obverse does not match and Krause only list the year 1878. The 10 Pesetas from 1878 is gold. Can you provide a larger and better focused photo?

Ill try to get a better picture ASAP. Yea I could only find the gold ones with the year of 1878 also! I can't even find a picture of this exact coin. This coin is very little though and the one that's on eBay looks like the size of a dime. But this one is almost half the size of a dime. I will post more pictures and ill weight it as soon at I return home. Thank you for helping me out guys! :)

Look closely at the stars opposite the date. They should be stamped with the date 1961 or 1962. The 10 Pesetas should weigh 3.2258g. The 1887 date should be on the 20 Pesetas and weigh 6.4516g. Can't tell what you have except very interesting.

It is play money, made in Germany by the Lauer company.

I have seen a similar one with Britain's Queen Victoria on it.

    :)

I like how it says "imitation" on it. :D

And looking at the oxidation, I'd guess brass aluminum.

Just think how much fun and excitement you had doing the research. It's worth every penny you paid for the education. Why I love world coins.:)
