ok, here's the conclusion of my recent byzantine binge.. 1st a low grade one.. maurice tiberius follis 586-587ad (year 5) constantinople mint 30mm 12.0g sb494 and a couple of trachy coins.... manuel 1 comnenus 1143-1180ad billon trachy 29mm 4.2g o:virgin r:manuel sb 1965 this one i cleaned up a bit, sellers pic is a bit better however.. vs. alexius iii 1195-1203ad o:christ r:alexius and st. constantine (nimbate) sb 2011-13? (can't tell them apart) 30mm 3.8g
Gosh nice old ones. Personally I could never warm up to the cup shape of these, but they are great bits of history.
