A new greek I picked up. Ive always wanted this reverse type and the price was right so I bought one finally. Krannon, Thessaly, Greece, (350 - 300 B.C.) AE dichalkon O: Horseman galloping right, wearing petasos and chlamys. R: “KR-AN/NO”, hydria (water carrying vessel) mounted on cart. Krannon mint 4.605 17.4 Rogers Thessaly 197, SNG Cop 43, SGCV I 2073 It was customary in time of drought to take a sacred chariot with Hydria in procession through the City to supplicate Apollo for rain, and if a crow settled on the wheels, that was the sign that Apollo would grant the prayers of the faithful. -- Rev. Edgar Rogers in The Copper Coinage of Thessaly

Great snag ... yup, I've always pondered the thought of pickin'-up one of these babies ... => well done, Champ!! (ya beat me to it!!)
Thanks I had seen the ones with the crow but this one I was gravitated too the most. Plus the ones with the crow at my price point had more off centering, more wear and other issues I didnt like.
hu, how'd i miss this one...nice one mat...the reverse is very cool, i hadn't seen one like that before.
More ancient revivals here... here is my Krannon coin dating to the same period. Krannon, Thessaly | c. 350-300 BCE AE Dichalkon | 3.92g | 12mm Obv: Zeus or Poseidon right Rev: Horseman left, KP to left, A-N right

I also have this other Thessaly horse coin but I can't seem to find an exact ID for it. I believe it is from Larissa though. Thessaly, Larissa AE11 | 0.98g 10.7mm Obv: Head of the nymph Larissa left Rev: Horse grazing left, ΛAΡI above
