I think some of us have coins like this simply accidentally. I know I have a large capped bust quarter with a hole and a bend in it that would probably fit in well with these.
I think there is another forum member who started similar collection by leaving coins for a few weeks on the table while waiting for new flips.
Ouch! There is a member who put together a collection of holed coins...that is coins a previous owner put a hole into.
Yeah. It makes me sad everytime I see a hole. I was metal detecting when I was younger with my neighbor. We found, (we promised to split all finds), a lovely wheat cent in AU condition. But, the previous owner tried to put a hole in it. He failed, but left a nasty round cut on the coin on both sides. The date? 1909S VDB.
Here's a couple ugly large cents one looks like its been attacked with a tomahawk and the other it looks like someone tried to make it a small cent by pounding on the rim and attempting to put a hole in it I once saw a 1922 peace dollar that had been hammered to the size of a half then holed it was about 3/8" thick at the edges!!
