I got this off eBay for $13. Seller said it was a "counterstamp?", which it doesn't appear to be. Could this be a flipover error? Sorry for the poor pics... they belonged to the seller. bbb.JPG bbbn.JPG

  3. It looks like someone smashed this coin's face onto the reverse of another one. The design wouldn't be mirrored like this if it were a flipover, would it?

Unless my brain isn't working right... if someone smashed it into there it would read normally.

Ummm...it would be mirrored. That's why they carve the die the opposite as it should appear on the coin.

Oh yeah... so then someone took a vice and smashed 2 together then?

  7. That's what I'm thinking. And that could probably explain why the other side is so worn down.

Thanks! Pretty neat how there appears to be dirt in the devices. Like it was done long ago. But who knows, maybe someone manipulated it further to appear that way. Good thing I didn't pay much :)
