help with grade 1869 three cent piece

    Just got lucky and got near complete sets of these and the nickel ones...very excited.

    I'd say AU-55 but other might say otherwise

    I would also say it's an AU, but I don't want to be more specific and leave the exact grading for the experts on 3 cents. There is a larger mark on the obverse, right? Can't tell from the image how bad it is though...

    Details Extra fine. Either the scratch or environmental damage will keep it from grading clean I think.

    I wondering if the coin is too dark to grade. What is the luster like in hand?

    it has luster in hand - does shiny/not polished, black make sense???

    spots of silver, etc..

    Its definitely not like a dull black...

    I am learning that its hard to see luster in a scan...
