Hello everyone, New to the forums but I have been collecting for several years now. Just recently my grandfather gave be a box of coins that he and my grandmother had saved, mostly BU Halves and Dollars from the 60's. Sorting through all the various coins I came across about two dozen quarters that look excellent. Visually most of them have no imperfections. However, I have little experience when it comes to grading anything in the mid to high 60's. So here are a few from the bunch that I have photographed, what do you think they would grade?
Well you got one thing hear the issue is most of these are post 1964 clad coins they arent perfect and in my mind arent worth anything at all sorry !! but the 1964 is silver and has value but the toning or tarnish in this case is to strong and loooking ugly making your coin only worth a few bucks
I don't think the toning on that 64-D hurts the value at all. In fact, I would much prefer that to a blast white example. That said, 64-D Washingtons have very little numismatic value, they are mostly intrinsic. @HarryK, those photos do not show the luster well enough to provide and accurate grade of the coins.
i would disagree on the toning it is far to deep on the coin if you study it and is almost tarnish deeply !!!
I wouldn't classify a blend of russet and charcoal toning on the peripheries as deeply toned. Deeply toned would be something more like this.
Images lead one to call them all AU coins that have light circulation then stored in a moist environment.
Alright, so I got out the camera again and this time tried it with more direct lighting and the photos came out much better
much better job on the pics. the coins have attractive toning but still except for the 64 the clad ones just aren't worth much
True, until you get into the very high grades, and that's why I'm here. Do you think these quarters could grade 66 or higher?
