Can anyone shed some light on the whole "unsearched" roll thing? How am I to trust that a seller has not searched it and lied? I mean, there's potentially hundreds to thousands of dollars in a truly unsearched roll. I have only been collecting a few months, and I already have enough wheats to stick an indian, or a merc, or a shiny steel in a roll of common wheats, sell 50 rolls at $5 and bank $ 250 from $20 or $30 worth of pennies. So how can I know, or where is a good and trusted place to get some truly unsearched rolls? Cent, 5cent, 10 cent, all the cents! \ New guy CM
You don't, you don't trust them. I like to think the only trusted original unsearched rolls are OBW or mint issued rolls of a single date. The ones you find on ebay are fed and hand crimped to sell for a huge and shameless profit.
OBW rolls may have been searched, too. Even for original Mint rolls, you have to inspect the crimped ends to ensure that there hasn't been any tampering. The same would apply to original Mint bags. You have to examine the stitching very carefully to make sure that it has not been re-stitched. Chris
they are all searched......i concur....never trust.....and nothing is to stop you from doing it as well except karma.....don't add to the problem
I don't go on ebay for unsearched lots, but I do have a dealer whom I have dealt with many times and who is a very good friend, and I purchase lots of wheats that are unsearched for die varieties. I have great success in searching these lots.
