Carrying Cash in Republican China

    Due to severe inflation and devaluation of the currency, carrying cash in the latter years of the Republic of China (1912-1949) meant having to deal with a large and heavy pile of paper money.

    The situation is clearly seen in an interesting series of photographs from the 1940's which I write about in this article.
