Hi jw, how are you doing my friend, sounds like your out of town, as far as the acid go's i'm not sure on the life, once you get the stone, the acid's are pretty cheap.

 

Acids generally have no expiration. I would also assume the the concentration (strength) would be low enough where you would not have to worry about the hazard of caking. I would store them seperatly from other house hold chemicals just in case. Keep the bottles sealed tightly. If you notice the dropper getting stiff or cracking dispose with a large amount of water. Aaaaaaaaand when mixing with the water make sure you add the acid to the water and NOT the water to the acid.

 

Hey, I'm in Rome at the moment but will leave here on Monday with my wifew for a trip to Greece and Turkey. Its terribly hot here making it miserable to get out and see the sights. I'm working during the hottest part of the day, but even the evenings are unbearable.

Anyway, I have the stone and the acid for checking silver. I was just wondering what the life of the acid might be. I've had mine for several years and I suspect the acid should be replaced every so often.

 

Replace once a year to be on the safe side.

I have been doing a little Gold panning, well i thought i would test the purity on a few nuggets.
left line is either white gold or platinum, center gold and right white gold or platinum.

This test 22kt. upper acid is 12kt and lower acid is 22kt..




Well i say the the white metal is probably platinum, the gold held up well too..the river i went to does have platinum in it to..ya baby
