I was able to eek out just one common bronze coin this month, but I think its at least a little special... Egypt, Alexandria AE Follis, City Commemorative s.337-347 AD 2.69 g x 18 mm Obv: CONSTANTINOPOLIS, Helmeted and mantled bust of Constantinopolis left, holding reversed spear over shoulder. Rev: Victory standing prow, holding scepter and leaning on shield. Mintmark SMALA Ref: RIC VIII 17 You can see a nice example of this coin on wildwinds....
The reverse is really nice on this piece, but what I really like is the smirk on the face of Constantinopolis.
Wow Anoob, is this a little out of your collecting range, i think you should send this to me, don't want you out of your comfort zone..great look'in coin, love it..
Eng your right, I saw a gold Byzantine that doesn't look right in your collection you, we could make things right in the world.
Very nice, I hope you don't mind me posting my own Constantinople commem...yours is a lot nicer anyway.
Yah Noob, I definitely would have bought that baby, but I already have quite a nice version (not as gorgeous as your new sweetheart-coin, but still a keeper)
All- thanks for the comments, keep them coming and keep posting your city comms. Steve- Of course. I love yours, it inspired me to look for one of my own. I just like the rarer mint, I can say you, and I have ones graded "SN"....super nice!
