If you want one that nice condition you will have to pay over $100. If you are satisfied with a VG coin I found one on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1906-D-Barb...78?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4165228b72.
Well, I do think it's priced right. It's a nice coin, and I think it can make the VF. Coin World has it at $50 for F and $110 for full VF, so the price range is reasonable. Barber halves start getting expensive in F and above.
I think you'll have a difficult time finding a coin with this level of detail slabbed lower than VF25. I'm pretty sure I could find several fairly quickly on eBay that are slabbed at VF30 and have less detail than this. Not to say that you aren't right by The Old Standards Of Grading, but today's Barber market reality has moved in a different direction. That's a VF coin by today's standards. Now, whether this coin would slab at all is another question.
It may have had an old cleaning, but overall it is a nice mid-grade Barber. And yes, the details are much better than a F15...this is a strong VF. Barber halves are difficult in the middle grades and do command prices at multiples of the guides. I probably would offer a bit lower than the $70 only because they minted over 4 million of these. In this condition I'd be comfortable paying $70 if it was a little bit of a tougher date. It is definately a strong VF though.
Then my AG pocket pc. should be a G, that's nonsense. I will continue to grade conservatively, on lower grade coins, that are often over graded and or over priced.
Here is a PCGS VF 25 from photograde for reference. The OP's coin has more detail in "LIBERTY", much better rims/denticles, Much better leaf detail in the headband, equal if not better reverse detail, and more "meat" left on the coin overall. It is great to grade conservatively, but the coin in question is easily a 25, and probably at least a VF30.
