    That's a cent, not a bay.

The 'bays" plural. Those flat places between the columns. Like window bays. :)

I'm just trying to be funny. He does look like he's surfing but I don't see the Aztec.

So come on now guys. Lets get a collective grip on this thing. I am pretty sure about the Die clash area, but where does the surf board come from?

Have a Cigar while you consider this beast - It's a helluva start, It could be made into a monster. If we all pull together as a team.

I am going to retract the die clash claim. Abe's head would have to be offset 2 bays E-W or some other such and it still wouldn't move in the surf board.

You could almost get the clash to explain it if there was relative movement like either the blue or red arrows or some such?

Your overlay isn't correct. You have a negative of the reverse and a positive of the obverse. I think they both have to be the same. Liberty should clash on the other side of the reverse.

No Maddies didn't goof, me and you did. The pic you used is for what the obverse of a coin looks like with the reverse clash. This one shows how the reverse of the coin looks with the obverse clash. As you can see now the line you call the surfboard is at the wrong angle for it to be a clash of the collar. 45511048.jpg

What you say seems right. So this probably has nothing to do with clash. Then what is all this?

did you ever consider that this may be from a die dent ? lots of things can happen to a coin die like warping , buckling , gouges , scratches , dents , clashes , cracks , sunken in and etc. I have seen lots of coins like yours and never keep them , the coin is probably from a die that had a gouge or dent in it.

Could be any of that. I was hoping we could figure out with some certainty or consensus what it is or at least probably is. Whether that happens or not surfing Abe is kinda neat :)
