new special strikes discovered at the smithsonian

    Got this months issue of coin world today and read it wile fishing very interesting cover story.
    Heres the only article i can find that explains a little bit about what im talking about

    Neat story, did they provide any pictures of these coins?

    I guess samples of these will be on display at the Smithsonian Booth at the upcoming ANA Show in August. i cant find any thing else mentioning this besides the coinworld magazine which i cant link to inless you have a subscrption

    I would place these coins in the category of "specimens", as the article seems to indicate that they are special handled business strikes that would be close to perfect. Many countries use to produce specimens for national collection and even sales to special benefactors.

    there beign compared to the sms sets but alot better almost proof. The pictures in the magazine look amazing way better then any modern ive seen hopefull some other place will report on this

    the intresting bit is no one knows how they were stroke or why or that the mint even took special care to be made for the nnc Theres no record of them. A guy reaserching gold coins for his book noticed when looking at the moderns that they looked totally different compared to others.
