My Hobo Nickel- Is it real?

    I won it at a coins show when I was 12...I really don't know if it's real or not...

    I guess that depends on how you define "real". If you mean was it carved by a hobo or a modern artist - I'd say modern artist.

    I'm guessing a 'modern artist' rather than a 'hobo' would be tempted to sign it.

    jody, I was 12 about 4 years ago...and thanks for your input guys....also, any idea on a value?

    I'm giong to agree that it's a modern artist's carving, based on the fact that the cuts look too sharp to be period.

    I'd estimate a value of $10-$20.

    Just checking to see if anything about hobo nickels had popped up and saw this thread ,the ear and hair appears to be carved like a older carving, but as the others have quoted the cuts look sharp like a newer caring, so i too think maybe it,s a modern hobo nickel..
