Would like to know what I have here... I have looked over and researched till I was blue in the face. I finally went to a BBB trusted coin and Bullion store in the Huntsville Alabama Area. He told me if it is a fake or false it was a (darn) good one. The notes he gave me about this that are interesting are listed below. 19mm in diameter 3.1 in weight (what ever that means) and upclose thru his little eye thing he said the texture was excellent ... except on the woman's face... there it looked grainy. I have contacted and sent the attached photos to a Civil war expert out of Richmond Virginia area. I was hoping that someone could give me a idea of what I have here. I have attached two front and back photos each.
It is a copy of the Lovett Confederate cent ( see URL below) . Many replicas were struck for Civil war events over the years as it wasn't illegal. You can use the search button above and search 'confederate cent' for previous threads ( many). Welcome , Jim http://www.coinfacts.com/confederate_coins/1861_confederate_cent.htm
Hi kuho and welcome. that's a good looking copy. the beading round the edge looks like the most suspicious sign with these.
