After a brief hiatus due to becoming a parent, I'm slowly getting back into the hobby. I thinned out my collection a while back and kept what I absolutely loved. Now, the goal is to finish my Wartime Jefferson set with full steps and get into buying silver again, now that it dropped below $20.00/oz.

Looking forward to reading some past posts and getting some ideas.

Buy silver that was worth $20 back when silver was $5 an ounce.

In other words pay melt value or close to it for coins that were worth as much even before silver went up. This protects you if silver goes down. Also if you have "junk" silver trade it in for better stuff. Why keep an XF '64-D quarter when for the same money you can keep a nice F '40-D quarter?

If you had done this when silver was $50 an ounce you could now unload those coins and get twice as much silver.

Think of silver investing as a long term plan. Someday it willgo through the roof and you want to have as much as possible. In the meantime protect yourself from the fluctuations. Now's an excellent time to quickly build at least a small stokpile because the downside is so limited. It probably won't get under $18 and "can't" go under $14.

Welcome back and good luck with the war 5c's.
