Georgivs/Britannia Machin Mills Copper Halfpenny?

    This coin appears to look very similar to a halfpenny. What is the value? Any help would be much appreciated...Thanks

    It is not a Machins mills, but it is a contemporary counterfeit. I can't help with value, but there are avid collectors of circulating counterfeits of the colonial era.

    One giveaway is the crude lettering. Compare the shape of the head and reverse figure to a genuine one and you will see the difference. Counterfeits actually outnumbered genuine British halfpence in the earliest days of the US.
