    Chances are you got a different grader that may have a slightly different set of criteria, to there standards but different all the same, some time
    It,s very puzzling!

    Instead of asking strangers on a discussion board who have never seen the notes in person, why not call PMG and ask?

    Response to my email to Heritage Auctions about bulk grading and grades assigned for mass submissions;

    Dear Steve,

    I received the inquiry about your PCGS/PMG grading question and from my knowledge, they do not grade better if more items are sent in. If they were to do this, the entire point of having third party grade would be useless. Some notes might be graded higher one day and less another time, solely because grading is subjective and perhaps one grader sees something another does not. Also, if there were to do this, you would end up seeing some pretty bad notes in very high grades.

    lettow, do they keep a database of all the analysis of the notes? I thought the only comments were on the back of the notes..... how would they know why it did not receive epq for example

    lol, good point, to answer, I was unaware you could call pmg n ask about why things were graded as they were, do they allow you to speak to the 2 people who graded the bills? Do they have a database with info about the notes?

    I'm gonna have to call about my note as well. There's an internal tear comment on one of mine, where there's no internal tear in sight.

    I have never sent a note to a TPG so I have no first hand knowledge about whether you can talk to the graders. I have read posts on the PCGS discussion board where the posters indicated they discussed notes with the TPG company.

    I called PMG the other day for this very reason. Although I couldn't speak to the graders directly, the rep who answered phone passed my questions along to the graders. She told me to call back in an hour. When I called back, she explained why they graded my note the way they did.
