I can buy this coin for $115. Do you believe it's a good value?

Yes if not Doctored !!! Standing liberty quarter type 1 +2 are one of the best engraved silver coins America minted.

From what I can find the price is ball park for the grade (XF) which is what I would grade this one.

To me it's priced about right. I like the looks of it. Some folks don't care for dark toning and would not care to pay that much.

Actually it's this look that I enjoy most. The reverse is boring though.

Very nice. I don't typically like dark tones, but it looks good on this one. Nice find, reasonable price.

I'm the same. With some coins, it just adds a cool look that I enjoy. This one is really well struck.

In general or in comparison to the first? Or both?

I like the second coin as well. Nice look. Not as well struck as the first but still a nice coin.

"Value" is a subjective sales/purchase variable, best determined by the parties to an "exchange".

However, I personally would value that coin to be worthy of my $115 U.S. Fiat exchange, once authenticity is reasonably determined by weight and magnetism.

I have a complete set of Chinese origin, replica Standing Liberty coins.

    A possible comparative coin: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1917-TYPE-2...69?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item1c34479149

This one has minor corrosion damage in my opinion.

I believe the statement is self-explanatory to collectors, as I, of all grades TPG "slabbed" Standing Liberty "Quarters".

If further explanation is required, I suggest a reading of copyright 1977 A.N.A. technical "drawn" Standards, page 200 and 201.

I personally believe the coin you purchased, met or exceeded, current grading standards for at least an AU50 1917 Standing Liberty coin.

This link may convey a more representative example, if my post was deemed an inappropriate or complicated response to your query: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1917-S-TYPE...94?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item48577af99a
