<divert><divert>,, topic and issue diverted <roger><roger> Good stuff,,lol... now go back to your garden ! ; ) .. man I loved that show. <er, MA that is.. and not referring to Market Acceptable>
Doesn't change the fact that you sell AT coins, and have no shame about doing so. Makes you a fringe member of the hobby at best. A sample of his coins for sale. No mention of AT on Ebay to warn the less sophisticated collector. I rest my case.
Nor does it change the fact that I'd prefer to buy the coin which is the actual topic of the thread than any of the past 20 coins you posted for half price. Why?,, because it is a more sensible coin purchase imo.. 1 - The buyer enjoys it. 2 - The buyer has 1oz of silver bullion that is not dependent upon a "fringe" section of the hobby to make emotion based bids upon. His investment, while poor, is better than most of what I've seen you post. That's the take away of this thread imo,,, but please continue to spill water if it pleases you. ; )
I reiterate, and will continue to do so--what you are doing is unethical. I am a member of the A.N.A. We frown upon coin doctors who knowingly sell Artificially Toned coins, and sell them to people, without descriptors that the coins are not naturally toned--this is NOT a buyer beware situation, but a matter of ethics and violation of a code that is essential to the hobby. What I buy or do not buy is irrelevant--the fact that you continue to display and market AT coins, and do not see anything wrong with it is the relevant fact in this situation. It isn't a question of one's buying habits, but deceptive practices in the hobby.
Your making a lot of assumptions. 1 - I don't tone coins,,have said that before, but believe what you want... 2 - You use the term "we", so are you speaking for the entire ANA membership and each and everyones personnal opinion.? Hugo Chavez and Castro did a lot of that. I hear the job is open.... 3 - You must think I am a toner expert, I am not, nor can i tell the difference between NT and AT, nor do I think you can,,, or anyone else with 100% confidence. You can only guess and untimately say MA or QT... any slabbed toner you have is NOT 100% NT.. it's only MA.. sorry to burst any bubbles there. Anyway, I still prefer the original coin to any of yours... and will contine to say so.
Ah, a good old toning controversy thread. If someone likes the look of this neon colored ASE, well good for them I guess. Not any worst than Tuvalu issues I guess. People can spend their money how they see fit. As to NT-AT debate, it kind of highlights the fact that this hobby went on for over a century, ANY toning is damage. Yes, its almost impossible to keep a silver coin untoned for long, but that does not change the fact that toning is damage. So is dippping, which is what they used to do to most toned coins. Both are versions of damage, and what a collector should REALLY look for is a coin with the least damage possible. I used to collect toned coins back in the day simply because they were usually less damaged than overdipped white ones, but a white coin that was bright and lustrous was always worth more than a toned or dipped coin. This is the point too many newbies do not "get". Its not necessarily the color that drives up toned coin prices, its the fact they are less damaged than most white coins, since most white silver coins 100+ years old have been dipped, (or overdipped), to make them white. If this had been a "real" coin, it would have made me very sad of course. Any intentional toning is by its definition intentional damage. To think people intentionally damage coins makes a guy sad, but of course has been practiced forever.
