THE NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE! I WENT TO THE LOCAL GROCERY SHOP TO BUY SOME GOLD COINS AND THOUGHT IT WAS A STEAL AT 1 dollar for 10 gold coins. CAME HOME AND THEY WERE SQUISHY. NO THEY WEREN'T MADE OF TUNGSTEN, MORE LIKE CHOCOLATE. post your fake coin stories
I had a guy try to sell me a fake cc Morgan. The weight was perfect and details were nice but failed the magnet slide test.
In a large lot of coins I purchased from an auction was a fake ASE. It was one of those auctions with bad pictures and almost no description and I didn't even notice it was there. I took a shot and got the lot for cheap. The other coins were okay, but the ASE (which, in hand looked convincing) turned out to weigh about 33grams. Since I didn't even know about it, it didn't bother me too much, but now I don't know what to do with it. I don't want to keep it with my other coins...and I don't like the idea of giving it to somebody that would try to pass it off as genuine...but I know people collect fakes. Any advice?
