I picked this little bronze up a couple of weeks ago and it arrived yesterday. The images don't really do it justice. PHOENICIA TYRE AE20 OBV: Turreted head of Tyche to right, palm branch behind REV: Galley to left, prow terminating in volute, aphlaston at stern, NA (= 76/5 B.C.) and Tyre monogram above over IEΡAΣ [AΣNΛON] in monogram above, Phoenican letters below Struck at Tyre, 76-75 BC 7g, 20mm BMC 26, 255, 254 (In full disclosure, I had help at Forum with the attribution of this little baby)
Shabamm!! => a double-winner => "Tyche" and a good ol "Ship/Prow" ... I love the looks of that coin, my friend (comfy & cool ... nice pick-up!!)
Ummm, please try to forgive my ignorance, but is this a Roman Republic Bronze?? ... or is this a Greek coin?
nice coin, the galley is very cool, i don't have a phoenician coin yet for some reason....another problem i'll have to address. i got a two coins in the mail today also, this is how i feel when i open the mailbox and see a coin package in there!
ahahahaha ... exactly ... Sadly, my wife has that same look on her face (funny how joy and rage are such close sisters, eh?)
I laughed when I saw that little video and showed my wife. She said it looked like rage to her. So I guess they are close sisters. Shhh - too close
