It was first a dime. The rim would be entirely reeded if it were a cent and then a dime. Plus numerous other things like none of the cents details have been squished.
nice coin Matt you sure are lucky, I suppose you get to see lots of good coins because you own the coin shop. I saw the most awesome cent on dime on Ebay and it sold really cheap. I wanted that coin and forgot to bid until it was too late. the coin was circulated a little but it had the most design from the cent and dime dies I have ever seen. on one side the total memorial building was vertical going up Roosevelt's head with Roosevelts head also totally visible in the areas the building didn't cover. the other side was also beautiful with the oak and olive branches on lincoln's head and somehow the design of doth dies didn't get squashed during the strike. the coin was a 1999 or 98 EDIT I got to looking and it was still on my ebay page . here's a link to it. Does this one show more details than Redwins? http://www.ebay.com/itm/27123297275...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_2325wt_1200
Is he like beatlejuice where if you post a double denomination "x" number of times, he always appears?
this is the only way it would have been possible. if the cent dies had struck the planchet first it would have been too large to fit into the dime chamber.
guys you keep begging for redwin to get on here then you talk bad to him. he loves his coins. I love my coins too but a lot of mine got stolen and sold for drugs. luckly they were just the cheap ones that I had out of the safes in paper boxes.
Wonder why I never get something like that in my change . I seem to get mostly corroded zinc cents . lol But you're right it was the only way it could happen , especially having the reeded edge .
And this is what makes coin collecting so fun! You just never know when that gem is going to be found! Congrats sir!!
