Let's see your 18th Century US Copper Coinage. Here are my two offerings, pretty dismal but hey It's all I got Post Away Ben
Bone: Nice pieces, anytime that you have 18th century coinage it is neat. Good luck on finding some more.
The centuries "start" at the 001 such as 1801 so Ben is correct with the 1800 cent still being 18th century.
Gosh, I'd love to be able to throw up some pics in here, but I have very, VERY few 18th century coppers, and the ones I do have could be most charitably described as "scudzy" for one reason or another. I've been looking for a nice 1794 half cent to buy for a while, but have yet to find the right one. Maybe soon I'll have one to throw in here. For now, most of my coppers are 19th century. Until then, those are some lovely coppers. Fish
Thanks for the explanation. I get confused easily. :goof: Fish, You're not the only one looking for a '94. I'm on the hunt for a large and half cent from this year. Tough coins! Have fun...Mike
der: And to think that we though that we finally had this settled with the arrival (and end) of the year 2000!
I'm with Mr.Fish,I have three 19th century US coins which I have posted here frequently but after looking at that '98,I'm hiding them out of embarassment.
I wish I had some to share, but I haven't dedicated enough time, money, or effort into searching out for presentable pieces. BTW-Leadfoot, that's one beautiful 1798 LG Cent.
Nothing as nice as leadfoot, but here are two. My scanner died trying to scan my 1873 IHC proof (which was scratched), so these are the only two I have images of. I also have a 1796 ag Liberty cap,1798 Draped Bust that are not too bad. The other 1800(or low 1800's) are not the best coins. Can't wait for xmas so I can get my scope for the coins. I want to see what type scans it will do.
Thanks for all the kind words guys... ...but I feel badly that some have chosen not to post because that coin may have set the bar a bit high -- please understand that was not my intent at all. Along with being my only piece of 18th century coinage, that 1798 is by far my most expensive piece of copper and puts the rest of my copper collection to shame. 18th century copper is genuinely rare and owning even a scudzy P-01 is a very worthy goal, so I encourage those of you with lower grade examples to share them. These are awesome coins no matter their grade or state. Have fun...Mike p.s. great coins Bone & Mark!!!
Don't feel badly - I think this is about the third time I have seen it and I think it is a great coin. If I was you I would use it as my avatar. AND to all the others - post some pictures. I like to "browser" shop.
Just an okay coin Here is my 1796 - maybe this will help others to post. Found the old auction pictures - overpaid for it a little, but I likes it. There should be a lot of posts with pictures on this thread.
Maybe. technically 1800 is the last year of the 18th century. This asumes there was never a year 0. Ruben
