    generally if a coin is gold toned it's been plated or just toned with a golden color

    It dosent looked toned, more like gold plated. But still nice :)

    There's actually a trick you can do with a copper penny where you first plate it with zinc and then set it on a hot plate where the zinc layer reacts with the copper leaving a layer of brass. Here's a video
