Does anyone have any info on the mintage numbers on these coins? I'm looking to expand my collection, but I'm wondering if this is the way to go.

According to muy outdated Red Book:
    • $100 1 oz. 1997 56,000 P, 16,000 W; 1998 133,002 P, 26,047 W; 1999 56,707 P, 12,351 W; 2000 P 10,003; 2001 P 14,070
    • $50 1/2 oz. 1997 20,500 P, 14,637 W; 1998 32,415 P, 13,919 W; 1999 32,309 P, 11,098 W; 2000 P 18,892; 2001 P 12,815
    • $25 1/4 oz. 1997 27,100 P, 18,726 W; 1998 38,887 P, 14,203 W; 1999 39,734 P, 13,524 W; 2000 P 20,054; 2001 P 21,815
    • $10 1/10 oz. 1997 70,250 P, 37,260 W; 1998 39,525 P, 19,919 W; 1999 55,9557 P, 19,123 W; 2000 P 34,027; 2001 P 52,017
Later editions probably have later years, but as a non-US collector, I don't update my Red Book very often. ;)

Just wondering, has anyone ever seen 'circulated' platinum?

I think he means the new uncirulated platinum from the Mint that came out this year. How many of each we're made.

This is an interesting observation [to me at least]. It seems likely that nobody, or almost nobody, has ever seen a platinum coin in fine or very fine condition. I've never seen a VF silver eagle either, and it would be interesting to see how it would look with some wear and grey toning.

Looks like somebody had it (used) as a pocket piece.

    Thanks

I know the numbers on the proof coins, I'm wondering about the new uncirculated ones being released for the first time this year.

Hardly, it was BU when purchased. Bone has it right ;)
