What I mean is coins that commemorate coins. Here is a 1 Euro Greek coin depicting an Athenian Owls, and beside it... the real thing. (unfortunately the Athenian Owl coin was not mine ) My silver 10 Leva Bulgarian coins depicts a 'Coin of Todor Svetoslav Terter' Anyone have any more examples? .
Oh, a few hundred. Quite a bit out of my price range at the moment but will be going on my wish list. Thanks guys.
A decent Athenian Own can head towards the $1000 mark and beyond. One of Britains 2013 Two Pound coin celebrates the 350th Anniversary of the Golden Guinea.
yes look at my "coins with small coin as the design on the coins" collection in the post your newest foreign aquisition.
Quite a few European countries issue such coins on coins. Portugal and Spain come to mind, and the latest issue that I have seen (but not purchased ... so far ) is a silver 5 zł collector coin from Poland. It features the first Polish coin, issued about 1,000 years ago. In previous years Poland made several coins that depicted early 20c coins; this is the first one in a new series. Christian
