This is not machine doubling. It looks like a true doubled die reverse. You can tell by the notching in the bottom serif of the S. Also, I see notching in the E. Nice find! Is this a 1964?

No listings in CONECA or coppercoins for a 1971 S DDR; however, Wexler does list 8 different ones. I don't have his reference guide so I'm not sure which one it is. I'm sure the guys at coppercoins would love to see this one. Nice find!

OMG, After closer examination shots 1-3 and 4-5 are 2 different coins. both are 1972S. I am not entirely convinced it isn't just the side of the lettering tricking me though.. ugh

Well either way, image312 shows the S and it looks like a split lower serif. Whatever coin that is sure looks like a true doubled die.

I took the shots set at an angle, that is why I am not sure about the first coin. Image 312 and 313 are the second coin Funny thing is the only one I am pretty sure about is the 83 oberse in the post about better quality shots.

The reason I am not solid on these is because I am having a hard time showing it with a straight above shot. With the 83 you can see everything from above and when shot at an angle it really stands out.

I can't tell anything with those tiny little images. (So far I am not too thrilled with how this new software handles images.)

It should bring up a full size when you click on them.

I agree it sure looks like a doubled die to me.

You know how it is... You will find 1 in a million so when you find that one you figure nah, I am only 7/10ths of the way to looking at a million of these dang going to make me need glasses buggers, lol.

Someday when I get rich I plan on just buying one of those lazer imagers they use for Quality Control on the parts that go into the space shuttle, that way I can just use the handy dandy 3d imager(yep like in star wars) and look at it blown up 500x!!! I just know if I had that equipment I would still think all MD was a DD and vice versa, lol.

They don't. Oh they might if I waited long enough, but when they don't start coming up after five minutes I just close it and move on. OK I have found a way to view the large image. I have to right click on them and then open the link in a new tab. Nothing else works. When I do that, I would agree it is a doubled die.

Ya, It would help if we (myself included) uploaded smaller pics. I noticed that it can take a little long for my shots to load at times.
