    To All Members,
    One problem that CoinTalk has, which puts an excessive amount of stress on our servers, is a growing number of people with incorrect or outdated email addresses in their profile. Some of you probably don't know that your settings allows you to change your email address and setup what type of notifications you wish to receive. Please double check in the settings to make sure these are setup as you wish them to be.

    With the easy access to free email systems, there's no reason for anyone to register here with a false email. At some point in the not-too distant future, I will be running a program which will identify accounts setup with false email addresses and those accounts will be locked until the email addresses are updated. If you need an email to use on your account, go to Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, or any of the countless other free email providers and get one. It doesn't matter to me if you never log in and read the emails, what matters is that CoinTalk's server doesn't continually get deluged with email delivery errors.

    Thank you for your cooperation!
    Peter

    Hello Peter,
    Im not the most popular guy on Coin Talk, but Im not getting Email notifacations of updates to threads I have subscribed to. I double checked my e-mail address, and its right. Anything anyone could do would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    If you haven't already, go to Settings (upper right corner) > General Settings (left side column) > scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode: [make selection for email delivery] ... then scroll to the bottom of the page, "Save Changes".

    If this doesn't work, then also check your email spam filters to make sure you are getting emails from CoinTalk. You might need to add the address to your contacts so your email provider doesn't bump these alert messages to your email trash.

    If all that doesn't work, make sure to post here again to let the guys know it too failed. Good luck.

    Krispy said pretty much what I would have said. In addition to having the cointalk email in your contacts, some email providers have a "white list" feature that makes sure email from that address get through.

    Why do post in here show up as a "new post" and then tell me I do not have permission to access them when I try to access them at that point? Obviously, I can access them when I go to "home".

    I'm not exactly sure what you mean there, but yea the 'permissions bug' has been kicking my edited all week. :/

    you're a real big help when it comes to following the rules :rolleyes:

    You made your last post and when I clicked on "new posts", one new post was "Be Sure Your Email is Updated". When I click on that post (at that point), it says "Sorry, you do not have permission to access this page." It says the post is in the forum "vBCms Comments". Clicking on that says it is an invalid link. In order for me to see this post , I have to click on "home" and then "read more"

    krispy;
    I did exactly what you said then posted on a thread I made, and no E-mail notification. This is a problem because Im not smart enough to remember all the threads I have posted on...

    Thank you,

    Steve

    Steve, I just did a quick search and from what I've read with Yahoo mail you just need to add the email address to your contacts list and then the mail will start showing up in your inbox. A lot of email service providers are getting very aggressive with spam filters, and since these emails are auto-generated notices, they very often end up in the spam filter.

    That's exactly what happens to me whenever I try to read this thread from the New Posts list.

    I got here by copyng the URL that shows up when I hover the cursor over the thread title. Since that has to be typed in full and can't be copied directly, it's a real pain!

    hi, new member here. Im unable to post a thread. I registered, introduced myself, I'm getting email notifications, but when I try to post I get this message;

    you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
    1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
    2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

    I'm try to answer a thread already started and find it impossible to do so. I also find no way to "contact us" (meaning you), as all I get is an invalid error. I can't get in touch with the administrator eithr. Since your "change" in the format, I find this site almost unuseable, except for reading a few posts .. you certainly can't answer the. Some posts go so far to the right, I have held down the "scroll right" for over 20 seconds and still not come to the end.
