strange cent

    look at this coin i found. it looks like it is very old but youcan see the memorial on the reverse. i don't know what could happen. also, it looks thinner than the average cent. i think it is copper.

    If it is thinner, then that would explain the coin. An overly thin planchet would not be struck well at all. Weigh it and that will tell you.

    Odds are that it is an acid job.
    Look at the rounding of the rims, even if it was a thin planchet, the upsetting mill would have left some rim upset there.

    If it's damaged, it's still worth face value. On the other hand, if it's a planchet error, in that condition it's still worth face value.
