I believe this one to be NT but I am no expert on toning so figured I'd ask for your informed opinions. This one is for my morgan year set (filling in quite nicely)
Sellers pics, should have it in hand for better in a few days :D

Can't tell anything from the picture. Too dark, not enough contrast, and doesn't show anything.

    agreed,

    As stated many times:

Take the coin out of the holder before taking pictures.

    Otherwise, we can't see anything

Based on those photos, I would not classify the toning on this coin as market acceptable toning. I don't know whether the toning is the result of improper storage or is intentionally artificial. The good thing is that the coin is a circulated and most of its value is intrinsic. Very few collectors of toned coins would be interested in this piece because you need both a combination of color and luster to yield the look that toned coin collectors covet. I am very interested in seeing better photos of this coin.

The patina looks very unnatural, but that has no affect on the coin's value since it is essentially bullion at this point.

It has finaly arrived!! I'm thinking VF/XF 35/40 as for the toning AT or NT I'm happy it looks great in the 7171. I've adjusted only the light in these pics to bring them as close to in-hand color as I could :D

The toning looks AT to me, especially on the obverse. Given its condition, the coin is only worth melt.

I don't think the coin is AT. I think that coin is one of those circulated Morgan Dollars that was polished and then placed in a framed board display that imparted the toning on the coin over a long period of time.

I think it's both. I'd say the reddish/brownish color is older natural toning, and that the greenish/turquoise color is much more recent artificial toning that is on top of the older toning.

Just for giggles, rinse it in some acetone. That greenish/turquoise color might just rinse off leaving the original toning behind (unless you like it that way of course). If it does, then it is certainly AT.
