Your local coin store, a reputable online dealer, here. Depends on quality and prices your willing to spend or want to spend
yes , but it would help to know what your looking for in quality and price range. $10-$500 or $500+? JJteaparty.com but they tend to be a bit high.
The board's BST is a great place to start. BTW LostDutchman is a dealer in Indy and he buys and sells great coins and I have bought many treasures from him for many years now, gold, 19th century proofs(No Matt - you still cannot buy the 1880 SL half back!) and an assortment of odd foreign coins.
See this http://www.cointalk.org/t14152/. I have used several - Harlan J Berk and Northeast are two of my favorites.
It is really going to depend on what you are looking for. Some dealers are better for different types of coins and different price ranges.
Haha, no, like really cheap coins. Basically my dilemma is this: all the coins I find in circulation are circulated! Actually, even the uncirculated ones in solid date rolls of new 2012/2013 coins from the bank all have spots and scratches. I can not find any zinc pennies that do not have glaring issues. So, a place to buy cheap, uncirculated, high quality common coins is what I am looking for. I'm thinking especially half dollars. You can't readily get most of those from circulation anyway. So if I have to buy some, why not buy them all and make a nice, even-looking set of relatively uniform quality? But, I mean, they need to be pretty cheap, cause these are common coins, you know? Is there no market for this? I understand most people probably prefer the fun and challenge of building these sets from circulation themselves, but surely I'm not the only one who would like some higher grade coins, even if they are common?
Usually LCS have bargain bins that these types of coins go into, so there is a good chance that some of the coins you are looking for could be there.
Older coins in uncirculated condition can still cost you some bucks, depending on the coin, the grade (uncirculated runs from MS60 to MS70 and the price differential can be staggering) and if it is slabbed (encapsulated in plastic by third party graders - TPG). Local coin shops are by far your best bet for stuff like this.
