I don't really collect V nickels but I bought this one a few years back. It has full "LIBERTY" and has very strong hair lines. It doesnt say "cents" on the back. What grade do you think this is? And a value?

Based on the wear in the hair above the forehead and on the reverse, I will go with XF45.

I would say xf-AU from the pictures. I just recently picked one up in almost the same condition (better fields but small dink on rim) for about $15 which was a great price. I would expect a dealer would offer you about $10-15 and you might score 30-40 from a bidiot on e-bay.

The coin looks to be a XF-40 or an VF-35, grading a coin through a picture is always difficult. The retail value of such a coin is probably in the range of $10 to $13.

You really have to take the coin out before taking pictures, these are hard to see.

it dosent say cents because that how it orginal was. intill people started gold plating them in 1883 and passing them off as $5 gold coins thats why they added cents the next year.

i look forward to getting one in this grade. they look nice i have a low grade one
