I am new to fractional currency but still trying to learn as much as possible. I was looking for opinions on grade and value. There are no folds or holes. No major stains. The corners are not super sharp and the centering is off. All opinions are welcomed. Thanks!
That is a nice fractional, I have a real ratty one. I found this one about 35 years ago Probably Spinner himself was using it as change, who knows.
Definitely a fold on the bottom left front (easier to see on the back), looks like one or two more but still a very nice quality example, appears to be a strong VF - might get to XF but hard to say without it in hand. This is one of the better fractional designs, this and Columbia are really great out of the fourth fractional series... fourth is likely the overall best series design wise.
I would agree with the VF, but your pictures are somewhat washed out and the color and contrast of the printing are hard to rate. You would need that information for grade accuracy and to better see soilage from circulation.
For grading, what does CHCU stand for? CU is Choice Uncirculated, correct? Also, is AU and About New the same thing? I see that is what PCGS uses, "About New". Please correct me if I am wrong.
CHCU stands for Choice Crisp Uncirculated; AU is About Uncirculated. There are a variety of terms, some of which are traditionally used, some came into being when the TPG's started up. PMG scale PCGS scale International scale Dave
