So, given that PCGS is using the 5 oz holders for GSA coins, does that mean the grade guarantee is in place for PCGS, unlike NGC?
PCGS is now offering to grade and slab the entire GSA Hoard holder, much like NGC does. They put the entire holder inside a larger holder (I assume the 5oz slab). They offer this as an alternative to breaking open the GSA holder and slabbing in a standard holder. I just don't know how easy it would be to store a slab the size of an iPod. As for the original question, I'd have to think the guarantee is in place - I saw nothing on the website that would lead me to believe otherwise.
That's good. Maybe it will cause NGC to do the same and start slabbing, as opposed to stickering, GSA holders.
A wouldn't be surprised if the guarantee did not apply for the same reason it doesn't apply with NGC. PCGS has not had a chance to examine the coin outside of the holder
