I have a number of coins (mainly Greek) that was left to me by my Aunt. As I have no interest I would like to sell. 1. Can I sell in this country. 2. What would be the best way of getting them valued & priced. would appreciate any help. Bobby
If you don't have any idea as to value, I would suggest that you take the collection to a few different dealers to get a the best price.
Inherited Coins Thank you for responing. I was told they could be valuable so perhaps I will go to one of the main auction houses where the coin dealers can value for me. Cheers!
Bobby, Firstly, which country do you live in? Secondly, do you have any pictures of thezxse coins? If so, why not post them here so that we can look them over for you? We would be in a far better position to give you advice based upon what you have rather than speculating. Ian
Hi Ian I live in London and the coins are in Switzerland but will be going over there in the next few weeks and will be bringing them back with me. Yes, that's a good idea to post some pictures here - but that would not be until a few weeks time. Thanks for the suggestion, will get back to you & this forum. Regards Bobby
With a little luck, Greek coins may actually sell better this year, due to the Athens Olympics. If nothing else, it has brought the country to mind.
the olympics? is that the new reality show that has been pre-empting Law & Order for the past couple weeks?
I was down in London in April for a bit of rest and relaxation. First time i actually enjoyed being in the big smoke. Usually i;m there on business or passing through. it was good to spend some time there as a `tourist' for a change. Anyway, when you get a chance to see what is what and get some images, let me know. Greek coins of the 1900's are sometimes quite pretty, but they aren't all that valuable. Now ancient greek coins.....some of them can be VERY pretty and some can be VERY valuable. Some can be both. cheers, Ian
Hi Ian Although I live outside London (Hertfordshire) I would prefer to live back in Scotland any day (I hail from Gala) and I hope to eventually retire there. Just the pure air does you good after years down here. Will be leaving on the 10th and arriving back around the 8th October. Will contact you then. Cheers Bobby
Needless to say, I can readily understand your preference for Jockland to London . However, ya has to do what ya has to do....and be where your job takes you. There's some really beautiful scenery around Galashiels. I've particularly fond memories of hill walking (and fishing) down that way. Just thinking about it makes me want to jump in the car and scoot off down there. My current workload won't let me do that though :-( Hope you enjoy your trip. cheers, Ian
